The John H. GOLIHAR and Jennetta Jane Lacy Family

1. John H. GOLIHAR was born between 1833 and 1835 in MO according to the 1850 census of Randolph County, Arkansas.   The 1860 states that he was born in Arkansas.   John died prior to the 1870 census..

General Notes: John has a civil war pension record because of Jennetta Jane Lacy, his wife. According to the 1850 Randolph County Census, John was 15 years old, born in Missouri, listed with a William (b. abt 1805 in TN) and Mariah GALAHAR.   From another researcher, this is William's second marriage.  His first being to Sarah FLANNERY1 on July 15,  1830 in Lawrence County (Randolph), Arkansas, daughter of Isaac Flannery. The relationship between John H. GOLIHAR to this William is not known at this time.   If you look at the naming of John's children, there is a good chance that our John is William's son through his first marriage to Sarah Flannery.

The 1816 Tax records of Lawrence County, Arkansas has the name of Charles GOLIHER.    It is not known at this time who this individual is either.  Possibly the father of William Galahar of the 1850 census.

John's name is spelled GOLLAHAR in the pension and on his marriage license to Jennetta. However, an entry in Mary Ellen Golihar's bible spells in GOLIHAR.

John married Jennetta Jane LACY, daughter of Isaac Valentine LACY and Mary Lavina WADDLE, on 7 Feb 1853 in Randolph Co, AR.   After John died, Jane married at Charles Lewis who had also lost his spouse.   Jane had two children by Mr. Lewis.

Children from this marriage were:

1 M i. William GOLIHAR was born circa 1853 in Randolph Co, AR. Nothing more known.

            i.  John M. Gollahar, born 1888 in Arkansas.  Listed in the 1900 Randolph Co, AR census
                 living with George and Mary E Golihar Hibbard, listed as a nephew.   Both parents listed 
                 as being born in Arkansas.

2 F ii. Mary Ellen GOLIHAR was born on 28 Feb 1856 in Randolph Co, AR, died on 25 Nov 1919 in Randolph Co, AR and was buried on 26 Nov 1919 in Thomas Cem, Randolph, AR. Mary married George Washington HIBBARD, son of Joseph HIBBARD and Delilah WALKER, on 21 Jan 1872 in Randolph Co, AR.   Delilah was the daughter of Abe Walker.   Nothing more is known about Abe.

3 F iii. Sarah GOLIHAR was born circa 1859 in Randolph Co, AR.  Nothing more known.

2. Jennetta Jane Lacy Golihar married Charles M. Lewis on 2 Mar 1871 in Randolph County, Arkansas.    She had two children by Mr. Lewis:

                   1 M iv  Isaac Lee LEWIS who married Bertha Elizabeth ROSS

  1. Bertha May LEWIS, married Norman H. SLINKARD.  They had one son Clifford M. SLINKARD

  2. Myrtle LEWIS

  3. Arvin H. LEWIS, died 1 Sep 1972

  4. Elsie LEWIS

  5. Perry Vinson LEWIS, died 28 Oct 1975.   Perry married a Velma M. (unknown).  Velma died in March of 1974.
    They had a son, Jim Lewis who married and had two daughters.  They lived in Sacramento, CA at one time.

                   2 M v.  Perry Vinson LEWIS, born 17 Dec 1871  and died in 24 May 1901 in Jane, McDonald County, Missouri.   There are no known descendants.

Other Information Gained:

Michael, 
Randolph Co. Arkansas marriages list William Galihar and Sarah Flannery for 15 July 1830.  His marriage to my ancestor Mariah Eldridge must have been about 1841.   The 1850 Randolph Co. AR census says:

Mary E. is Mary Elizabeth Gullett by Mariah's 1st husband William Gullett.   Sampson and George are with William Galaher.  John must have been with Sarah Flannery and was born in 1835 when you say your John H. was born.  There are no other Galahers in the Randolph Co. census.   William and Mariah are in Saline Co. Ar for the 1860 census.  I haven't looked for John there but perhaps you know where he was by then.  I have not located any other children for William and Sarah yet.
